Geoplane

The geoplane is a very interesting didactic resource for working geometry, because it serves to introduce the geometric concepts in a manipulative way.

With it we can not only construct geometric forms, but also discover the properties of polygons or even solve mathematical problems, learn about areas, perimeters, ... is an essential resource for learning mathematics.

The geoplane was created by the Egyptian mathematician Caleb Gattegno about 1960, who was looking for a method to teach geometry in a more didactic way. Although most of them are now made of plastic, the original consisted of a square wooden board with nails forming a weft, so that they protruded and could be hooked the elastic bands that will serve to represent the different geometric figures.

TYPES OF GEOPLANE

1. The orthometric

2. The circular

3. Isometric

The geoplane can be introduced at the beginning of the primary for the child to manipulate, play and learn for himself.

At this stage it can be fun to make your own geoplane yourself.
